11 Day Luxury Scottish Coach Tour
Starts June 9th, 2003
Itinerary
Day
1.
Your
tour starts at GLASGOW, where we meet you at the airport. We then
head north along the west side of Loch Lomond, following the loch
to its end near Crainlarich, and continue northwards to Tyndrum
where we turn north again heading through Glen Orchy. At Glen
Coe you have a chance to stop and stretch your legs and view this
spectacular location before moving on the short distance to your
hotel at Glen Coe on Loch Leven. After refreshments and checking
in, we will head north again past Fort William, heading west along
Loch Eil for a visit to the famous Glenfinnan Monument. You have
time here for photographs, enjoy a tea or coffee in the visitor
centre or climb the hill if you can. We head back to the hotel
for the night and your evening meal. Glenfinnan was were the standard
was raised, your tour officially starts here!
Overnight at the Ballachulish Hotel, Ballachulish, Glencoe.
Day
2.
We head out after breakfast northeast along Loch Linnhe, through
Ft William to Spean Bridge, where we turn into Glen Spean and
continue along the to Loch Laggan, to Dalwhinnie. We follow the
A9 south through the Drumochter Pass to Blair Atholl where we
visit the castle. After the castle we head south again and visit
Edradour Whisky Distillery at Pitlochry. This is Scotlandıs smallest
distillery, you can take the tour here before we head into Dunkeld,
where we stop for an hour or so. Itıs then on to Perth and your
hotel for the night. With free time here in Perth, ancient capital
of Scotland, you may like to wander into town and see the sights.
A full welcome awaits you at your hotel - The Ramada Jarvis with
pipers and a memorable evening dinner. Overnight at the Ramada
Jarvis Hotel, City Mills, Perth.
Day
3.
Leaving Perth after we travel south to STIRLING
and BANNOCKBURN, with a long stop here to admire the castle, Wallace
and Bruce monuments, we then continue on to EDINBURGH where you
will be staying overnight. Evening free here - why not take a
"ghost tour" of the underground streets? Overnight at
the MacDonald Holyrood Hotel, Holyrood Road, Edinburgh.
Day
4.
Today we take the road south via MUSSELBURGH, PRESTONPANS (stop),
JEDBURGH (stop) and on to CARLISLE (stop), PENRITH, and stopping
for the night at the English Lake District town of BOWNESS. We
will take you on an evening trip tonight to one of the lakes.
Overnight at the MacDonald Old England hotel, Bowness on Windermere.
Day
5.
We continue south on our route through LANCASTER, PRESTON, WIGAN,
MANCHESTER, MACCLESFIELD and ending the day at DERBY where you
will be staying for the night. You are half way through your tour
here, and at the same point where Bonnie Prince Charlie and his
army turned back for Scotland. Charles's equestrian statue in
Full St - Derby. Swarkstone Bridge was furthest point south reached.
Day
6.
Back north via MACCLESFIELD, MANCHESTER, PENRITH, CARLISLE, following
a similar route home, we stop at GRETNA GREEN overnight, back
once again in Scotland. Overnight at Gretna Hall, Gretna Green,
Scotland.
Day
7.
Heading north we stop at Drumlanrig castle,
before continuing through HAMILTON, GLASGOW, FALKIRK ... where
battle was given, then to our destination for tonight FALKIRK.
Evening free here. Overnight at the MacDonald Inchyra Grange Hotel,
Falkirk.
Day
8.
Leaving Falkirk we head north again towards Inverness and CULLODEN
BATTLEFIELD where the Prince and his army took battle with the
Duke of Cumberland. After a stop here we take you to your hotel
in the Highlands capital - INVERNESS. Our 'footsteps tour' ends
here, as the Army of Bonnie Prince Charlie was defeated at Culloden
Moor. Overnight at the Ramada Jarvis, Inverness. Your tour continues
tomorrow!
Day
9.
Our route takes us through Speyside (stop) to Stonehaven, where
we stop to visit dramatic Dunnottar castle. Then following the
coastal route to Dundee and over the Tay Bridge to St Andrews
(stop). We continue along the coast of Fife and our last break
for the day will be at Dunfermline, where you have freetime before
we head to Edinburgh, where you stay for two nights. Overnight
at the MacDonald Holyrood Hotel, Holyrood Road, Edinburgh.
Day
10.
A morning guided coach tour of the city ending at the castle where
you can take your time looking around this wonderful castle! You
then have the remainder of the day free in Edinburgh. Your TOUR
ENDS here in EDINBURGH. Overnight at the MacDonald Holyrood Hotel,
Holyrood Road, Edinburgh.
Day
11.
We take you back to Glasgow airport for
your connecting flight. Should any require a connecting flight
from Edinburgh, or train connections this will also be taken care
of, depending on departure times. .

per person - based on two adults sharing double or twin room.
Childs places - under 12 year old $995 if sharing with two adults.
